NOW SHOWING AT TGV CAPSQUARE.

SRK's latest release RAB NE BANA DI JODI is definitely special not just because of its extraordinary story and Aditya Chopra being at the helm of affairs but also because it features a beautiful medley song of with 5 dazzling beauties of Bollywood – Kajol, Bipasaha Basu, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji. It is one of the highlights of the film. The medley is sung by Sonu Nigam and composed by Salim–Suleiman & Jaideep Sahni. It shows Shah Rukh paying tribute to yesteryear actors like Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor by dancing on their respective chart busters. The medley (a dream sequence song in the film) starts with Kajol & Shah Rukh Khan in THE RAJ KAPOOR & NARGIS style with 1950's hit song 'Pyaar Hua Ikraar hua...' The screen just lightens up to see SRK & Kajol sharing the same screen space.

  1. I agree it's a special movie. I watched the first screening yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, many people came out saying it was utter rubbish and even respected India film critic, Taran Adarsh said it was a little long in the tooth and only gave it 2 out of 5 stars. He compared it to Aditya Chopra's DDJL and Mohabbatein and even said it was "lower than that."

It was/is well shot. The cinematography was great. The art direction was brilliant, everything looked clean and colourful. As for the story, it was simple and not convoluted. It had a point and delivered it perfectly. Granted, some parts couldn't been edited (it runs 2hrs45mins) but saying its utter rubbish is being unfair to a story that reminds us how powerful love is in each person's life.

It seems like this movie may go along the lines of another misunderstood Yash Raj film, Aaja Nachle, a film which reminded us the importance of the arts in communities.

I think I understand our current wave of audience. People want action, big laughs... neither of which carry Aaja or RNBDJ.

Doesn't anyone want the simple things in life anymore?

So, the all potential watchers of this new Adi/SRK film, I know expectations of this are very high. Just go in with an open mind and let love tell you it's story. Haule haule.

  2. Cool, I managed to watch It today, I really liked it. It may not be a BLOCKBUSTER like DDLJ. But the message of LOVE, and RAB resides in all humans, was really a moving experience. 4 stars out of 5.
