Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par has been chosen to represent India at the next year’s Oscar awards.
In 2001, Aamir became the first Bollywood producer to get an Oscar nomination for his film Lagaan , which, however, failed to win the golden statuette.
A delighted Aamir Khan responded to the news of the movie’s selection: "It is a film that is extremely close to my heart. It first sensitised me as a parent and as a person and then went on to have the same effect on the audiences in India and across the globe. "
