Victory – Movie Review

Harman Baweja’s second film as actor,Victory , is a time pass entertainer that thrills momentarily without ever winning you over.

After a disastrous start in love story 2050 , Harman shows growth as an actor and, to his credit, doesn’t try to copy Hirthik Roshan . He is particularly good in the last reels when Vijay – battered and bruised – is the pivot on which the fate of the final match rests.

With its average music, frugal editing and amateurish direction, ‘Victory’ turns out to be a film that just about manages to hold your interest rather than leave you bowled over.

Luck By Chance (January 30, 2009) TGV cinema Circuit

After Rock On , Farhan Akhtar gives yet another riveting performance that thoroughly deserves plaudits. The incredibly talented Konkona is superb as ever. Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla delight you despite being over the top at places.

Here’s a one-of-its-kind film that takes you into the underbelly of Bollywood – into the world of dreamy-eyed strugglers, pampered starlets, superstitious producers, Hollywood aping directors, and the sensation seeking media.
In a nutshell, ‘Luck By Chance’ is a nice, touching story studded with a galaxy of stars........
LUCK BY CHANCE is an outstanding film in all respects., and is sure to prove an extremely lucky and rewarding experience at the box-office. Strongly recommended!

Thought for the Day

If you earn the wealth of pure love, you become the richest person in the world. He who is contented is the richest man in the world and the one who has many desires is the poorest man in the world. Today, man is filled with desires from top to toe. As long as one has desires, one can never be happy and peaceful. Give up desires and see for yourself how much love and bliss you get. The bliss you experience will be far superior to all the happiness you have experienced before. All the bliss is within you. But you are imagining that it is outside. What is outside is only the reflection, reaction and resound of what is within you.- Baba

Slumdog Millionaire (January 23, 2009) - THE REVIEW

Saving the answer for last, let it be said at the outset that Slumdog Millionaire is a kind of movie that is made only once in a while. It requires more than just an accomplished director to tell a story that cuts through cultural barriers while still being rooted in the grime and crime of Mumbai’s netherworld that lies in the shade of the symbols of India Shining – the skyscrapers and malls. It takes more than just a good ensemble cast to make a film like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ work. Everything has to fall in place – the script, screenplay, direction, acting, music, editing – in sync with each other to have a movie as frisky, stark, shocking and uplifting as ‘Slumdog Millionaire’
That’s also what the film’s story is about. An uneducated chaiwala ( Dev Patel ) at a call centre is on the verge of winning 20 million rupees on the Indian version of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’. How did he manage to answer all the questions correctly? Is he a cheat? Well, the show’s host ( Anil Kapoor ) and a local cop ( Irrfan Khan ) certainly think so. But may be he’s not. May be everything that happened in this slumdog’s life somehow conspired to bring him to the hot-seat of the television show where he would know almost all – if not all – the answers!
Boyle's direction and Beaufoy's screen writing works, and so does A.R. Rahman's exuberant musical score. The background score is eclectic, while the song 'Jai Ho' is mesmeric. The camera captures the streets of the metropolis remarkably. Note the chase at the very start, with a constable chasing the young Salim and Jamal in the slums. Brilliant!
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a must-see! One of the finest films of our times, this one should not be missed for any reason.

Slumdog is an eye opener
Its a terrific movie. A must watch for all Indians. Instead of all this complaining and whining about a westerner exposing our poverty to whole world ..why not we all unite and ensure that the govt and authorities take necessary steps to revamp our Slum so that Mumbai is a better place for all of us whether they are poor or Stars!! Disparity amongst rich and poor is so huge that immediate action is warranted!! - Amit

Slumdog is the film which all Indians should boycott. This film has made fun of Indians.People must truly beware of such films from west.If there is any true Indian who has Patriotism for India they must boycott the movie. Moreover slum people are also human and calling them dog is totally inhuman and ignoble thing. So Indians raise the feeling of patriotism and boycott this film.

Thought of the day - 22nd January 2009

Developing attachment to persons and possessions is the cause of all sorrow. By reducing attachments and developing love for God, one can reduce misery and experience more happiness. The more one loves God, the more the bliss one experiences. Men are plunged in misery because they hanker after the physical instead of yearning for God. If men transform their desire for material objects into the desire for the Supreme, they will enjoy immense happiness. All that is necessary is to see the Divine in everything. This is true devotion. Work will then turn into worship and every act rendered holy.
